PostBank Uganda (PBU) is a privately held company limited by shares, established under the Public Enterprises Reform and Divestiture Statute of 1983 and the Uganda Communications Act, of 1997. It was incorporated in 1998 under the Companies Act and is wholly owned by the Government of Uganda, holding 100% of its shares.
PBU operates under the regulatory oversight of the Bank of Uganda as a financial institution governed by the Central Bank under the Financial Institutions Act of 2004.
In 2023, we launched Wendi, a digital payment platform to facilitate group savings, funds management, digital money savings, transfers, deposits, and withdrawals. This initiative aims to enhance financial inclusion within unbanked Ugandan communities, enabling individuals to conveniently access their funds anytime using their mobile phone numbers as account identifiers.
Furthermore, we were granted a Certificate of Acceptance from the Sustainability Standards and Certification Initiative. PostBank is the 3rd bank in Uganda to be admitted to the SSCI, a significant milestone in promoting economic sustainability
